The Most Instagrammable Places in Mumbai

If you know me, you know Mumbai has my heart. As I spend more and more time in the City of Dreams, I’ve been scouting some of the most Instagrammable locations in Mumbai for some of my brand campaigns. Here’s a round up of my favorite places to get the perfect Instagram-friendly shot when you travel to Mumbai!

Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is arguably Mumbai’s most recognizable landmark, located in the heart of South Bombay right on the bank of the Arabian Sea. Usually the first stop on any tourist itinerary, the Gateway of India is a must-visit for the perfect Instagram photo.

Get the Iconic Auto-Rickshaw Shot

No trip to Mumbai is complete without a rickshaw ride. Feeling the wind in your hair while your weave your way through the bustling streets of Mumbai, especially during golden hour, is just one of those experiences you absolutely need to do during your visit. Tip your driver a bit extra and snag some fabulous shots for the gram! Here are some of my favorite auto-rickshaw shots I’ve taken over the last few years.

Marine Drive

Marine Drive is known as the Queen’s Necklace because of its crescent shape, and is the best place to take in the Mumbai skyline. It’s by far one of the most popular hangout spots in Mumbai, especially during and after sunset. If you want to truly experience Mumbai, grab a snack or a coffee and people watch at Marine Drive during sunset. My favorite part is the tetrapods that help break up the waves. I did a stunning shoot during golden hour, and I’m SO glad I did!

Take a Photo of the Mumbai Skyline from a Boat

This is my favorite under-the-radar spot to get THE Instagram shot of Mumbai. Take a boat ride around the harbor from the Gateway of India, and ask them to stop so you can get a picture of the famous Taj Hotel and Gateway of India. Feel free to take the boat to Alibaug for a weekend getaway or a sundowner for the evening.

Bandra-Worli Sea Link

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link is a modern Mumbai landmark that connects South Bombay to the surrounding suburbs that make up the city of Mumbai. Did you really even visit Mumbai if you don’t post the obligatory story of your crossing the link? Probably not ;) If you’re looking to go the extra step, I got stunning photos of the Sea Link in the background from the beach in Dadar. Make sure to go on a clear day, otherwise the smog will definitely cover your view of the Sea Link.

Explore the Streets of Bandra

Walking around the streets of Bandra while shopping and cafe hopping is probably one of my favorite ways to spend the day in Mumbai. Each of Bandra’s unique alleyways has its own charm and aesthetic. Take some time to explore the villa-style houses in Bandra’s narrow lanes, adorned with pastel colors and graffiti-covered walls.

Dadar Flower Market

Dadar Flower Market is a large wholesale flower market located in the Dadar, Mumbai, India. It is one of the largest flower markets in the city where you’ll find locals lining the street trading of fresh flowers, garlands, and other floral decor.

Mount Mary Steps

Mount Mary Church is an iconic Bandra landmark. Take a picture by the church and then head over to the stunning painted steps to get the perfect Instagrammable shot. The steps are an incredible community hub connected to a amphitheater, so you may get lucky and be able to see a live musical performance or just people hanging out on the steps. Go to the nearby Steps Cafe right after!

Sabyasachi Flagship Store

The Sabyasachi Flagship in Kala Ghoda in South Mumbai is a truly sight to behold. Adorned with furniture and decor from the designer’s personal collection, it really feels like you’re walking through a museum. Each corner is breathtaking, and you can even see fashion pieces from Sabyasachi’s heritage collection on display — all while shopping your heart out.

Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Colaba

Taj Mahal Palace & Tower in Colaba is Mumbai’s most iconic hotel located right across the Gateway of India, with sweeping views over the Arabian Sea. The rooms, the hallways and the pool are all stunning places to get the perfect shot. Remember you can only take photos at the hotel if you’re staying there, and also only on your phone. No cameras allowed!
